Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract The bran of P. miliaceum millet resembles rice bran in appearance, and its yield is about 15% of the wt. of whole grain during milling. The bran contains 16-20% oil, 7.5% protein, 11.6% mineral elements, and 24% fiber. The physicochem. properties and fatty acid compn. of millet bran oil are presented and compared with rice bran oil. Millet bran oil contained less oleic acid (26.0 vs. 40-50%) and more linoleic acid (52.0 vs. 29-42%) as compared to rice bran oil.
