Abstract A local variety of cassava (Manihot esculenta) gave seed yield of 400 kg/ha. Seed contained 26% orange-yellow colored oil and 18.5% protein. The oil has low unsaponifiable matter and the following fatty acid compn. (wt. %) as detd. by gas-liq. chromatog.: 8:0, 0.5; 10:0, 0.8; 12:0, 4.6; 14:0, 1.5; 16:0, 11.4; 18:0, 4.6; 18:1, 25.1 and 18:2, 51.4.
