Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract The present study was aimed at characterizing composition of the seed oils of Afzelia xylocarpa (Kurz) Craib and Cassia fistula L., including the fatty acid profiles and contents of tocopherols, sterols, and total phenolics. The fatty acid profiles of two seed samples were analyzed by GC. The tocopherols and sterols were determined by HPLC, and the total phenolics was assessed by the Folin–Ciocalteau method and HPLC analysis. In addition, the DPPH free radical scavenging assay was used to evaluate the antioxidant capacity of these extracts. These experimental data evidenced the traditional and medicinal uses of these two Fabaceae seeds in Vietnam.
