Objective To determine the chemical constituents extracted from the fruit of Swietenia macrophylla using petroleum ether.Methods The fruit of Swietenia macrophylla was soaked in cold petroleum ether to extract fatty acids.Then,the extracts were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry after methyl esterification and identified using the Wiley7n.L Mass Spectral Library.Results Sixteen compounds were detected and identified,which accounted for 99.70% of total chemical constituents.Conclusion The main fatty acids in fruit of Swietenia macrophylla include 9,12-octadecadienoic acid,8-octadecenoic acid,9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid,and octadecanoic acid.
