Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract 【Objective】The aim of the study was to analyze seed oil composition of different populations of Paeonia ludlowii and to assess whether this species is a suitable material for developing oilseed peony or not.【Method】A total of five populations(No.1-5)were collected in Nyingchi Prefecture and Lhoka of Tibet.Oil composition analysis based on GC-MS was performed for seed mixtures of five populations and individual plant of two populations.【Results】P.ludlowii seed oil was rich in unsaturated fatty acids(86.32%)and the order was oleic acidα-linolenic acidlinloeic acid.Four populations in Nyingchi had a similar oil composition, with fatty acids significantly being higher than those of population in Lhoka Prefecture. In terms of oil composition of individual plants,No.1population in Nyingchi had no internal differences whereas the populationin Lhoka had obvious internal differences.【Conclusion】There were significant differences in composition oleic acid content between cultivated oil seed and peony P.ludlowii.The seeds with higher oleic acid content and lower linloeic acid content were favorable for preservation.P.ludlowii can be used as a suitable material for developing oilseed peony.
