Abstract Objective To establish the methods of TLC identification of linoleic acid and to determine the contents of every fatty acid in Seme Ocimi Basilici oil by GC.Methods The petroleum ether and ethyl acetate(37∶3)as developing agent.The basil of linoleic acid was identified by TLC method.The oil was extracted by ether,and the contents of every fatty acid in Seme Ocimi Basilici oil were determined by GC.Results The Rf value is more appropriate,it showed the same blue fluorescence spots with the standard chromatography corresponding position in the sample chromatography by UV lamp review.The Seme Ocimi Basilici oil was composed of myristic acid(23.34%),palmitic acid(15.65%),oleic acid(32.23%),linoleic acid(28.34%),linolenic acid(19.35%),arachidonic acid(14.69%),and the separation of all kinds of fatty acids was completed within 50minutes.Conclusion The method of operation was simple,results were accurate and reliable,and had a good repeatability.It can provide reference data for the quality standards of Seme Ocimi Basilici.
