Abstract Fatty acids in the Malania oleifera oil of Yunnan were esterified by sulfuric acid-methanol and analyzed by GC-MS. Seventeen components were separated and seven acids as methylesters were identified and determined. They were hexadecanoic acid (1.50%), 9c-octadecenoic acid (21.54%), 11c-eicosenoic acid (7.04%), 13c-docosenoic acid (18.29%), docosanoic acid (1.33%), 15c-tetracosenoic acid (40.92%), tetracosanoic acid (2.14%). There were 7.24% components unidentified.
