Abstract The content of the fruit fattyoil and the fruit morphology and oil length of Cornus walteri in Jiyuan,Luoyang and Sanmenxia were tested and analyzed.The result showed: Fistly,there were significant difference among the longitudinal diameter,diameter and the hundred fruit weight of the Cornus walteri in the three distribution areas,which were in an order of Jiyuan Sanmenxia Luoyang;Secondly,the crude fat content in the fruit were higher than in the seeds,which suggested that there were higher crude fat in the fruit peel and there were significant difference between the fruit crude fat content and the seeds in these three distributions.Whether it was the fruit or the seed,their crude fat contents were from high to low all in an order of Jiyuan Sanmenxia Luoyang;Thirdly,the fatty acid composition in fruit oil of Cornus walteri was the straight-chain fatty acids no more than twenty-carbon chain that mainly were sixteen-or eighteen-carbon fatty acid.They are suitable to be used as raw material of bio-diesel,but the high acid which would affect the process.Therefore,it is of great importance to select low acid cultivar in Cornus walteri breeding.There is great deal linoleic acid in the cornus walteri fruit oil,which could be used as raw material to the edible oil.
