Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract The non-food oil plant resources in Nanling national nature reserve in Guangdong were surveyed primarily and statistically analyzed based on early investigation and literature review. The oil content and fatty acid composition of energy storage organs of collected plants were determined by Soxhlet extraction and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry respectively. The results showed that 471 species belonging to 190 genera and 77 families distributed in this reserve, accounting for 14. 81%,17. 40% and 41. 18% of the species, genera and families of the seed plants in Nanling respectively, and accounting for 57. 86%,47. 86% and 71. 30% in Chinese oil plants. The dominant families of non-food oil plant which had species above fifteen were Lauraceae,Celastraceae,Euphorbiaceae,Rutaceae,Magnoliaceae, Theaceae and Rosaceae, mainly distributing in evergreen broad-leaved forest zone at altitude of below 1 400 m. The distribution elements of family and genera of the non-food oil plants in this reserve were complex and diverse, and tropical taxon was predominant,at the same time, temperate taxon affected strongly. The oil contents of 46 species belonging to 27 genera and 20 families were higher than 45%.
