Abstract

The physicochemical properties of banaba seed oil were determined,and fatty acid compositions of seed oil were also determined by GC/MS.The results were as following:refractive index was 1.4820,iodine value was 132.3 gI/100 g.Total 12 fatty acids were determined out.The content of linoleic acid was 74.57%,oleic acid was 8.38%,palmiyic acid was 6.68%,and stearic acid was 4.26%.The content of unsaturated fatty acids was 85.76%.Branched chain acid and odd number carbon acid(hexadecanoic acid、tricosanoic acid) were first determined out in banaba seed oil.Banaba seed oil has a developing potential as a healthy oil resource.
