Objective:To investigate the composition of fatty acids in seeds and leaves of oriental arborvitae.Methods:The method of GC-MS was used for the qualitative and quantitative analyses of the compositions of fat-soluble substance in seeds and leaves of oriental arborvitae.Results:Eight fatty acids and the relative contents of the acids have been determined in the oriental arborvitae,ac- counting for 93.56% of the total fatty acids,mainly including saturated fatty acids:hexadecanoic acid(8.11%),octadecanoic acid (6.08%);unsaturated fatty acids:9,12-octadecadienoic acid(24.59%),9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid(59.77%).While 12 different fatty acids and the relative contents of the acids have been determined in the leaves of oriental arborvitae,accounting for 93.39% of the total fatty acids,mainly including saturated fatty acids:hexadecanoic acid(14.70%),acetic acid(3.20%),heptadecanoic acid(2.50%);un- saturated fatty acids:6,9,12,15-docosatetraenoic acid(40.48%),9,12-octadecadienoic acid(10.69%)and 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid (17.62%).Conclusion:It have reasonable the composition of fatty acids in seeds and leaves of oriental arborvitae.
