The fatty acid compn. of L. sativus and V. sativa was detd. by thin-layer chromatog. and gas-liq. chromatog. Palmitic (11-21%), oleic (18-33%), and linoleic (31-57%) were the major fatty acids. The fats also contained 18-23% unsaponifiables.
