Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract Studies on Anona muricata seed oil from Somaliland are described. Tables of data are given for the 100 seed wt., husked seed yield, oil content of the seeds, and the sterol composition, fatty acid composition, acidity, density, I 2 value, saponification value and UV spectral characteristics of the oil. The husked seeds contain on average 39.8% oil (DM basis). C18:1, C18:2 and C16:0 acids predominate (comprising 39.8%, 30.4% and 19.8% of the total fatty acids resp.). Unsaturated/saturated fatty acid ratio is 3.2; oleic acid/linoleic acid ratio is 1.3. Acidity is 1.62%; I 2 value is 94.34, and saponification value is 193.72. Of the sterols, beta-sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol predominated (52.1%, 29.9% and 15.7% of total sterols resp.).
