Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract 11 leguminous seeds for potential food use were investigated. Tabulated data are presented for oil and protein contents, fatty acid and mineral composition of Caesalpinia decapetala, C. pulcherrima, Delonix elata, D. regia, Hardwickia binata, Hymenaea courbaril, Parkinsonia aculeata, Peltophorum pterocarpum, Pterolobium hexapetalum, Saraca asoca and S. declinata. Oil contents ranged from 0.2 to 12.3% (H. binata), protein contents from 16.7 to 42.8% (D. elata). The main fatty acids were palmitic (7.2-63.1%), oleic (12.6-30.9%) and linoleic acid (2.3-70.2%), i.e. all seed fats were of the simple linoleic-oleic-palmitic type.
