Characterisation of fifteen varieties of genotype peanuts for yield, oil content and fatty acid composition

Abstract

15 var. of groundnuts, viz., KG-375, MGS-7, MGS-8, RS-214, RS-114, TG-2, TG-4, G65-1068, NG-386, J-11 (Ch), KG-423, Ah-8312, Ah-7889, Ah-7890, and Ah-7891, from various parts of India, were analysed. Yields ranged from 1344 to 2598 kg/ha, shelling % from 72.4 to 80.6, oil contents from 40.8 to 46.3%, I values from 86.5 to 104.8, protein contents from 35.7 to 55.1%, saturated acids from 19.0 to 46.3%, and unsaturated acids from 62.4 to 80.7%. Most of the var. contained 0.4-3.4% palmitoleic acid.
