Abstract The fixed oil (4.5%) in the stony portion of Juniperus macropoda (used for producing gin) was examined by chemical and physical methods. The saturated acids of the oil are palmitic (9.1%), stearic (11.0%) and behenic (4.3%) acids, unsaturated ones palmitoleic (1.6%), oleic (36.45%) and linoleic (23.45%) acids. The unsaponifiable matter consists of beta-sitosterol (14.5%).
