Estimation by ion exchange chromatography of hydroxyproline as a measure of collagen content of food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products

Abstract

An automated ion exchange chromatography method, with ninhydrin detection, for estimating hydroxyproline in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products as an indicator of collagen content is described. Absorption was estimated at 440 nm. Minimum and maximum concentration limits were 6.5 and 32.6 g/ml.
