Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract Seed of E. Pursaetha grown in Nigeria was analysed for physical properties, chemical composition and overall proximate examination. The kernel was 49.821.21% of the seed. The seed was rich in protein 23.190.04% and carbohydrate 45.351.11%. It had a high crude fibre content of 17.000.50%. The moisture and ash content of the seed were 9.000.32 and 1.200.50, respectively. The oil which was liquid at room temperature had a yield of 4.260.20%. It had a refractive index of 1.4450.003 and specific gravity 0.82380.004. The oil showed an acid value of 2.8050.20, peroxide value of 220.50 and I value 250.90. The I value suggests that the oil contained saturated fatty acid. The saponification value of the oil was 1941.80 while the free fatty acid (as oleic) was 1.410.20. The seed was analysed for 8 essential elements. K had the highest value at 10 976.0 mg/kg followed by P 2666.8 mg/kg and Mg 2156.0 mg/kg.
