Analysis of oil of G. nutans R. originating from Huasteca Potasina (Mexico)

Abstract

The complete seed contains 41.3% oil, the physical chemical properties of which are given. Fatty acids represented are eleostearic (85%), oleic (10%), linolenic (0.8%), and saturated fatty acids (2%); non-saponifiable matter 0.8%. Exposure to light causes transposition of alpha-9,11,13-octadecatrienoic acid to the beta-form, which is precipitated. || ABSTRACT AUTHORS: G. M. Hocking
