Anogiessus latifolia seed oil: co-occurrence of 12-hydroxyoctadec- cis-9-enoic acid, 7-(2-octacyclopropen-1-yl) heptanoic acid and 8-(2-octacyclopropen-1-yl) octanoic acid

Abstract

The seed oil of A. latifolia contains an unusual combination of fatty acids as determined by alkaline hydrolysis and spectral analysis. There was an unsaturated ricinoleic acid (26.4%), cyclopropenoid fatty acids such as malvidic acid (4.9%) and sterculic acid (3.5%), together with the normal fatty acids, lauric acid (1.3%), myristic acid (1.6%), palmitic acid (18.3%), stearic acid (3.5%), oleic acid (12.6%) and linoleic acid (27.5%).
