Abstract The seed oil of A. latifolia contains an unusual combination of fatty acids as determined by alkaline hydrolysis and spectral analysis. There was an unsaturated ricinoleic acid (26.4%), cyclopropenoid fatty acids such as malvidic acid (4.9%) and sterculic acid (3.5%), together with the normal fatty acids, lauric acid (1.3%), myristic acid (1.6%), palmitic acid (18.3%), stearic acid (3.5%), oleic acid (12.6%) and linoleic acid (27.5%).
