Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants.
more details ...
The fatty acid distribution in triglycerides from C. avellana (hazelnut) seeds was studied by TLC, GLC and lipase hydrolysis. Tabulated results show the % acid composition of oil, deacidified oil, free fatty acids, mono-, di- and triglycerides, di-mono-glycerides and tri- and di-mono-glyceride fractions of varying degrees of unsaturation, and the glyceride structure of di-, tri- and tetra unsaturated triglycerides. Oleic acid accounted for 89.6% of all residues at position 2. Results agree with the 1-3 random and 2-random hypothesis. [Journal of the American Oil Chemists Society (1963) 40, 242].
