THE STEROLS AND FATTY-ACIDS OF DELPHINIUM DENUDATUM ROOTS

Abstract

The content and composition of sterols and fatty acids of Delphinium denudatum roots, which are used in the Indian Unani system of medicine, were determined. The sterols were composed almost entirely of campesterol, stigmasterol and sitosterol. Trace amounts of cholesterol and Δ5-avenasterol were also detected. Characteristic higher plant fatty acids were also present.
