Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract Vernolic acid has been found at the 30.1% level in Centratherum ritchiei (Compositae) seed oil. This acid, cis-12, 13-epoxyoctadec-cis-9-enoic, was isolated by preparative TLC and characterized by IR, NMR and MS. A successful attempt has been made to identify vernolic acid, without its derivatization, by mass spectral study. A reference vernolic acid (Vernonia anthelmintica seed oil) has been used for comparison purpose throughout the study.
