Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract The seed oils from 8 Egyptian citrus var. were studied: sweet orange, urban orange, Valencia orange, mandarin, bitter orange, grapefruit, lemon and shaddock. Tabulated results showed mean kernels contents 49-62%, and oil content 24.3-38.6%. Physiochemical characteristics were: sp. gr., 0.9163-0.9186; refractive index, 1.4592-1.4698; I value, 100.8-105.8; saponification value, 194.2-197.1; and unsaponifiables, 0.64-0.86%. The main fatty acids were: palmitic, 20.4-28.6; stearic, 4.7-5.4; oleic, 20.7-29.9; linoleic, 35.2-45.1; and linolenic, 6.4-7.0%.
