STUDIES ON NONCONVENTIONAL OIL-SEEDS - SEARCH FOR NEW SOURCES OF EDIBLE AND INDUSTRIAL OILS

Abstract

The seeds of Ougeinia dalbergioids Benth. obtained from forest origin were investigated for their fatty oil constituents and some applications of the oil to edible as well as industrial purpose like alkyd resins and other oil-derived products. An attempt has been made to prepare oil incoporated azoalkyd disperse dyes by step by step process of polymerisation, co-polymerisation, diazotisation and coupling with phenolic compounds. Prepared dyes were studied for application on polyester, nylon and wool fabrics as azo disperse dyes.
