Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract A spectrophotometric procedure, based on the alkaline 2:4-dinitrophenyl- hydrazone method of Lappin and Clark, is described for the determination of ketonic groups in long-chain compounds. The effect of a number of variables on the final intensity of the colour has been investigated. The method has been applied to the determination of licanic acid in the presence of other saturated and unsaturated fatty acids and shows a standard deviation of 0.8 per cent.
