Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants.
more details ...
Kernels of teak seeds contained 43.2% light-colored oil, whereas the husk (calyx and shell) contained 0.4% dark-colored oil. The protein content of the kernels was 45%. The fatty acid compn. (wt.%) of the teak kernel oil, as analyzed by gas-liq. chromatog., included C14:0 0.4, C16:0 13.1, C18:0 7.8, C20:0 1.5, C18:1 21.3, and C18:2 55.9. Thin-layer chromatog., UV, and IR spectral analyses of the kernel oil and their Me esters showed the absence of unusual components, this making the teak seed kernel a useful source of edible oil
