Abstract The quantity and chemical composition of essential Oil and fixed Oil from the fruat of Pančićia serbica Vis. are examined. The fruit was collected in large quantities from 1970—1974 in three mountain areas of Serbia. The percentage of essential Oil is 1.62—2.42 (Table I). The obtained essential oil was examined by thin layer chromatography according to Stahl. Comparing the developed chromatograms of essential oil from Pančićia and from Pimpinella, as well as of some pure substances, the separated spots from Pančićia serbica were found not to fit the specific components of the essential oil from Pimpinella. The fixed oil content is 9.64-14.30% (Table III). The results of fixed oil analysis by gas-liquid chromatography demonstrate this composition: palmitic acid 5.67%, stearic acid 0.86%, oleic acid 72.69%, and linoleic acid 20.54%.
