Phytochemical Investigation of Pulicaria crispa (Forsk.) Benth and Hook Growing in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The powdered flowering plant of Pulicaria crispa (Forsk.) Benth and Hook grown in Saudi Arabia was investigated. Beta-sitosterol (0.23%) and beta-amyrin (0.1%) were isolated from the unsaponifiable matter of the light petroleum extract. From the ethereal extract, neutral triterpene, (C6H10O)n, m.p. 274-276 degrees C were isolated. From the alcoholic extract choline (0.08%) was isolated as choline reineckate and quercetin was detected.
