Fatty Acids from the Oil of Monechma ciliatum

Abstract

The oil from the seeds of M. ciliatum was analysed and its component fatty acids were determined. A total of nine saturated and unsaturated fatty acids have been determined in the liquid fraction of the oil, namely myristic, tetradecenoic, Palmitic, hexadecenoic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, arachidic and behenic acid, while the solid fraction was composed only of stearic, arachidic and behenic acid.
