The seeds of H. cannabinus contained moisture (7.556%), ash (4.652%), fibre (22.87%), fixed oil (19.5%), reducing sugars (0.812% as glucose), and crude protein (10%). The fixed oil from the seeds contained palmitic (17.5%), stearic (4.5%), oleic (45.5%), linoleic (25.5%), and epoxy oleic (7%) acids, along with β-amyrin and β-sitosterol in the unsaponifiable matter.
