Cashew kernels yield 42.2% of fixed oil with ether extn. The oil is readily refined with alkali and the neutral oil is readily reduced. The I no.-n curve is exactly analogous to those for mohua and cottonseed oils. The acids present as glycerides are oleic 73.77%, linolic 7.67%, palmitic 6.4%, stearic 11.24%, lignoceric 0.5%, unsapon. matter 0.42%. The satd. acids comprise 18.2% and the unsatd. 81.8%.
