Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract Luvanga scandens Roxb. belonging to family Rutaceae is a plant of medicinal value. THe fat from the seeds of L. scandens has been analysed by GLC for its fatty acid composition, where it has been found to contain a very good proportion of industrially important Lauric acid (72.22%) and Capric acid (2.67%) apart from Myristic acid. Luvanga scandens Roxb. (Family-Rutaceae) is a strong woody climber with recurved sprine (1). The dried fruits are used for preparing perfumed medicinal oil. The oil is reported to cure baldness (2). The present communication reports the fatty acid composition of the fat from the seeds of L. scandens which has been found to contain a very percentage of Lauric acid.
