Analytical characterization of new seed oils

Abstract

The behaviour in the U.V. and I.R.-lights and the fatty acid composition of the oils extracted from the seeds of 37 species belonging to different families were determined. Results have shown in some oils, in addition to the fundamental fatty acids, the presence of special acids, such as erucic, y-linolenic, catalpic, eicosenoic, octadecatetraenoic, malvalic, eicosadienoic and eicosatrienoic acids. The composition of some interesting oils in relation to their families is then discussed.
