Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract The content of fixed oil in fruit of Myrrhis odorata was determined; it varies from 11,5% to 14,9%. The physico-chemical properties and chemical composition were determined by gas-chromatography. The following fatty acids yielded: palmitic (3,7%), palmitooleic (0,6%), stearinic (0,9%), petroselnic or oileic (81,6%) linolic (12,1 %), linolenic (0,8%). The oil has a fine, agreeable odour and delicate taste. It had no irritant action neither oo the cutis of a man nor on the mucosed alimentary canal and the peritoneum and another organs of mice; this was stated in maeroscopical autopsy after the section of mice. The fixed oil, OLeum Myrrhidis pingium, contains 95,1% of unsaturated fatty acids, and belongs to half-drying type. Probably, it may be used in pharmacy for liniments, in the cosmetic industry for creams, in the soap industry, and supposedly in the fat and food industry.
