Gas-liquid chromatography (G.L.C.) of methyl esters derived from Ephedra campylopoda C. A. Mey. (Ephedraceae) seed oil indicated several atypical C20 esters. The major unusual component (22%) has now been demonstrated to be all-cis 5, II, 14, I 7-eicosatetraenoic ester.
