Comparative Study of Vegetable Tallow and Stillingia Oil from the Seeds of Sapium sebiferum Roxb.

Abstract

Tallow from the mesocarp and stillingia oil from the kernel of the seed of the locally grown sapium sebiferum were extracted, their physical and chemical characteristics studied and compared with those available in the literature to judge their suitability as edible fat/paints oil in order to meet the increasing demand. Minerals and Amino acids content of the cake suggest its use as a cattle feed.
