Physico-Chemical Studies on the Fixed Oil of the Seeds of Dolichos Lablab.

Abstract

The seeds from Iocal variety of Dolichos Lablab have been studied for the first time for its moisture, ash, proteins, lipids and carbohydrates contents with particular emphasis on the percentage yield and chemical composition of the fixed oil. The seeds have been studied to contain 0.62% fixed oil which was characterized and studied for its fatty acid composition by GLC. The oil is found to contain palmitic (8.33%), Linoleic (57.95%), Elaidic (15.05%), Oleic (5.65%), Stearic (11.26%), Arachadic (0.38%) and Behenic (10.40%) acids.
