Abstract The seed and flower fats are characterized. The fatty acid compns. are (acid, % concn. in seed fat, and % concn. in flower fat given): lauric, 0, 1.21; myristic, 0, 2.37; palmitic, 4.25, 27.13; heptadecanoic, 0, 2.50; oleic, 49.28, 16.58; linoleic, 21.53, 13.13; linolenic, 1.34, 5.53; arachidic, 10.59, 6.99; eicosenoic, 0,3.33; eicosadienoic, 0, 16.6; erucic, 4.50, 4.63; lignoceric, 8.56, 0. The only alkaloids in the defatted seeds and flowers are vasicine, vasicinone, and vasicinol.
