Chemical examination of the fixed oil derived from the seeds of Dolichos biflorus

Abstract

The fixed oil from the seeds of Dolichos biflorus was extd. with petroleum ether. On removal of the solvent, a yellow-colored oil was obtained in a yield of 10%. The following acids were in the saponifiable portion: oleic acid 60.3, linoleic acid 18.5, linolenic acid 5.2, palmitic acid 6.98, and stearic acid 9.02%. Lupeol β-sitosterol was also found in the unsaponifiable portion of the oil
