Vegetable oils. II. Composition of the seed oils of Eclipta alba and Ageratum conyzoides

Abstract

The title oils were extd. with petroleum ether. The triglycerides were sapond. and the fatty acid contents detd. by gas chromatog. of the Me esters. E. alba contained 8.6% oil having sapon. value 185 and I value 109.5; the fatty acids consisted of palmitic 22.79, stearic 7.09, oleic 17.4, and linoleic 52.72%. A. conyzoides contained 25.6% oil having sapon. value 191 (2.8% unsaponifiable) and I value 148; the fatty acids consisted of palmitic 16.53, hexadecenoic 0.99, stearic 7.06, oleic 8.74, linoleic 54.74, and linolenic 11.94%.
