Kamala seed oil - problems and prospects of commercial utilization

Abstract

Kamala seed oil, useful in paints as a substitute for tung oil, can be prepd. by extn. of the oil from seeds which were decorticated to remove any kamala dye. The oil can be stabilized in the pure state by BHT for up to 5 mos, but will remain ungelled in turpentine oil soln. for over 2 yrs. Optimum prodn. of oil occurs at a different time in the growth cycle from optimum prodn. of the dye
