Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract The study was undertaken to analyse non—traditional seed oils. The oils ofter proper evaluation, may find utility as alternatives for conventional oils used for edible on industrial purposes. The chosen raw materials for the present study included : Annona squamosa (Annonaceae), Tectona grandis (Verbenaceae) and Shorea robusta (Dipterocarpaceae). The fatty acid profile, unsaponifiable fraction and protein content have been given in each case. The test extractives have been screened for antimicrobial. toxic and nutritional evaluation. The test samples were screened against pathogenic microbes and the activity compared with known standards. The extractives were subjected to toxicity tests against domestic virnun and the activity compared against a known insecticide. For nutritive evaluation, rat was taken as the animal model. The results were noted in terms of diet intake, weight gain and feed efficiency ratio and percentage digestibility.
