Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract The triglycerides of Carum capticum seed-oil, extracted by chloroform at room temperature, were purified and fractionated by plain and silver-nitrate impregnated thin-layer chromatography, respectively. The composition and position of fatty acids at alpha, alpha', and beta for each fraction was determined by the use of pancreatic lipase and gas-liquid chromatography. The oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid occupies the beta-position, depending upon the comparatively higher percentage of respective acid.
