Exploring Phylogenetic Relationships between Hundreds of Plant Fatty Acids Synthesized by Thousands of Plants. more details ...
Abstract Shrubs and trees of the plant family Flacourtiaceae occur in India, Sri Lanka, Senegal, Brazil, and Hawaii. These plants are largely underexploited. Their seed oils are inedible but due to their constituent cyclopentenyl fatty acids they constitute valuable raw materials for the preparation of a variety of biologically active compounds, such as antimicrobial agents and pheromones.
